Next week marks National Apprenticeship Week, and it is the perfect time for us at Danbro Electrical to review our commitment to the apprenticeship programme, our relationships with our apprentices, and our partner college providers.

Since our launch in 2018, Danbro Electrical has been committed to employing at least one apprentice annually. We are proud to say that many of those individuals are still with the business today.
Beyond our own intake, we have also supported trainee electricians who found themselves displaced mid-training due to contractor closures. Currently, we have two such apprentices preparing for their AM2 (End Point Assessment) in March and April 2026.

We also believe in supporting the wider trade community. We regularly collaborate with smaller contractors (one-man bands) who may not have the breadth of work required to get their apprentices through the full standard. By providing work experience for these young people, we help ensure no talent is lost to the industry.

Recent Successes & Growth:

• In 2025, we saw three apprentices successfully complete their programmes.
• Two have continued as site-based electricians.
• One has transitioned into a Trainee Project Management role, supporting our growth in larger commercial projects.

The Future Pipeline:

In addition to our two AM2 candidates, we have four other apprentices set to complete their programmes in 2027 and 2028. We are already booking work experience trials for two potential new starters for September this year.

Why We Do It:

Our commitment comes from the top—all three of our Directors began their careers as apprentices. We know first-hand that apprentices are the lifeblood of this industry.

The UK faces a significant challenge: trends suggest we will need an additional 100,000 trained electricians by 2032 to meet government housing targets and offset an ageing workforce. Data from Oxford Economics (2024) already highlights a dramatic decline, with the workforce falling from 214,200 in 2018 to just 158,000 in 2024.

We remain fully committed to the apprenticeship route and to those who join us full-time while studying in the evenings. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and their contribution to the future of Danbro Electrical.
